Suggested List of Items for a 72-Hour Emeregency Preparedness Kit

  • 3-day supply of high-calorie food bars
  • 4 Water purification tablets (one per liter)
  • 1 Emergency thermal blanket
  • 1 Lightstick 12-Hour Burn
  • 1 Rain Poncho
  • Waterproof matches
  • Ziploc bag for kit's storage
  • Soap
  • Moist towelettes
  • Hard Candy
  • Important Numbers and Contacts Card
  • Checklist of additional recommended items for the kit
  • Informational Guides on Water Purification and General Emergency Safety
  • Water: Minimum 1 gallon per person 
    (ideally 3 gallons per person for 72-Hour period)
  • Flashlight with extra batteries
  • Basic first aid kit
  • Roll of toilet paper/tissue   
  • Necessary toiletries & sanitary items
  • Necessary medications
  • Necessary baby/pet supplies
  • Paper & pen
  • Duck tape
    (Tip: Wrap several yards around pen to save space)
  • Radio with extra batteries
  • Change of warm clothing
  • Plastic garbage bag - (for sanitary purposes)
  • Copies of vital documents
